Another Chain Restaurant Shuts Its Doors In Texarkana
On The Border has been in Texarkana for a long time, but according to multiple reports, the one here and all the other locations are going away for good. I sure hate to lose another good margarita place, but it appears the rumors are true.
Today is officially the last day for the Texarkana On The Border location at 4300 St. Michael Drive.
What's Going On?
We are not alone; this is apparently happening all across the country. In Texas, we heard about other closures in Wichita Falls and Longview. In Arkansas, we recently heard the Hot Springs location was shutting its doors.
2025 Bankruptcy Not Enough To Save It
Last year, On The Border filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and the Pappas Restaurant Company acquired the chain two months later, trying to save the brand that started in Texas in 1982. When Pappas took over the operation, it had 60 locations in the US. That number was trimmed to 33, with 17 of those in Texas. As of today, Friday, June 12, 2026, the rest will be closed.
A Sad Texarkana Goodbye
It is indeed sad when a restaurant you like shuts its doors, personally because we hate to lose another place to eat that's pretty darn tasty, but most of all, we hate it for the folks that work there suddenly having to find another job. We wish them all the best and good luck finding just the replacement gig.
Adios, On The Border, it's been fun.
