Did you know some seriously crazy weird laws are still on the books in Arkansas? These laws are very dated but you know how the government works, once a law has passed it is hard to get rid of it. 

Instead, these silly laws just get buried deep in the pages of old law books. Luckily, no one has been fined or arrested for these laws in a very long time.

The funny thing about old laws is that someone had to have committed the act and people were so upset about it that it was deemed against the law.

1. Alligators are not allowed to live in bathtubs.

So, Really? Someone must have done this and it scared the jaheebees out of enough people that it was deemed against the law.

2. It is illegal to kill wild animals in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

They have a broad description of a “wild animal”. This included any warm-blooded animal that can normally be found in the wild state. Let's hope no one decides to classify mosquitoes as 'wild & warm-blooded' anytime soon!

3. Men and women will not flirt with each other on the streets of Little Rock. It could lead to up to 30 days in jail.

Boy, have times changed!

4. It is illegal for the Arkansas River to rise above the Main Street Bridge in Little Rock.

Now this is a tough one to enforce. Who would get the ticket? Mother Nature?

5. You can not walk your cow on Main Street in Little Rock after 1 PM on Sundays.

This is another one of those laws that you can't help but think...and this was a big problem at one time?

6. It is illegal to pronounce Arkansas wrong.

It must be pronounced Ar-can-saw, not Ar-Kansas! And don't you forget it! This law came about when the state was young and there were Arkansas U.S. senators who couldn't agree on the pronunciation. Eventually, in 1881, the Arkansas General Assembly picked one pronouniation and the other pronunciation was outlawed. .

7. Arkansas teachers can't receive a raise if they bob their hair.

Oh, the roaring 1920s were also considered sinful and for a woman to cut her hair just despicable!

8. It is illegal for a man to beat his wife more than once a month. 

This one is totally out there! Thank goodness times have changed!

9. In Beebe, Arkansas, a donkey can not sleep in a bathtub after 7 PM.

That's right because after 7 PM that bathtub is for people only!

10. Dogs are not allowed to bark after 6 PM in Fayetteville.

Yeah, try telling Spot that when he sees a cat or a stranger walking by.
