Walking through winding corn mazes and tall pumpkin patches designed to get you lost can be creepy after dark -- but plenty of fun during the day especially if you're hunting for sweet corn or that perfect pumpkin.

Depending on the place, some farms make it pretty scary after dark, which reminds me of Children Of The Corn. But I digress. There are many great aspects of corn mazes and pumpkin patches such as delicious food, hayrides, games, and sometimes even outdoor movies. Such farms are a terrific way to welcome in the fall season. Here are some great pumpkin patches and corn mazes near Texarkana that are sure to provide plenty of fall entertainment.

Take Interstate 30 to exit 220B toward Richmond Road/Pavilion Parkway/Farm to Market 559. Proceed to the light. Take right on Richmond Rd./FM 559. Continue approximately 3.1 miles. Destination is on the right. Turn onto asphalt drive and proceed to parking.

This family owned farm located in Texarkana, Texas is getting ready for another exciting 2016 Fall Festival Sept. 25-Oct. 31. Family fun abounds with hayrides, cow train, cube cannon, roping station, corn maze, games and flicks in the sticks (outdoor movies). Kids will get an educational experience during their visit seeing registered Texas Longhorns, learn how fruits and vegetables are produced and see how honey is made with their beekeeping at the farm.

September 17, 2016 marks the 17th Anniversary season of DixieMaze Farms and their corn maze this year resembles the popular Pokemon Go craze. Not only will there be plenty of fall festival fun with the pumpkin patch but you can now make reservations to their haunted corn maze, if you dare. Other activities include the corn cannons, pumpkin chunkin', zombie paintball, trail of terror, outdoor movies on the side of a barn and much more. And on September 24, you can be a part of the 5th Annual Down and Dirty Mud Run (click for details). In addition, on Saturday, October 22, don't miss the 'Shout Out' young artist music fest at DixieMaze Farms.

Yesterland Farm is like taking a step back in time, combining old-fashioned fun with a new twist. Yesterland features a pumpkin patch, amazement park, wagon train rides, Fort Yesterland, giant slides, gem mining, and apple cannon and more. And for some creepy fun check out the After Dark corn maze that features ghosts, ghouls and zombies. This weekend September 17, kicks off the season with Heroes and Alligators honoring our hometown heroes like the military, police, and emergency personnel.
