Queen City ISD Awarded State Grant To Expand Welding Training
A large group of students at Queen City ISD will soon have expanded opportunities to train for high-demand welding careers thanks to a nearly $278,000 state grant announced this week by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The award is part of more than $1.9 million in Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants awarded to seven Northeast Texas schools through the Texas Workforce Commission. The funding will help schools purchase and install new equipment to better prepare students for jobs in fields such as healthcare, mechanics, trucking, and welding.

70 Queen City Students Will Be Trained
Queen City ISD, working in partnership with Texarkana College, will use its $277,590 grant to train 70 students for welding certifications. Welding continues to be one of the most sought-after technical skills in the region, offering graduates access to stable, good-paying jobs close to home.
