Schools throughout Northeast Texas competed in Jefferson for Project Graduation Funds from the Texas Department of Transportation. Students from each of the schools produced videos promoting traffic safety issues for their peers. And we're happy to announce that Redwater High School was the big winner.

Students showed off the $1,500 check they received for winning the TxDOT Traffic Safety Public Service Announcement competition held Tuesday in Jefferson.  The students created a video about the hazards of distracted and drunk driving and beat out ten other schools from the TxDOT Atlanta District which covers a nine-county area of Northeast Texas.  The funds will go towards this year’s Project Celebration at the school.

The school with the winning video will receive a $1500 grant toward their Project Graduation event for this year. Second place will receive $1250, third place $1000 and every other school participating will receive $700. Schools not participating in the video competition may also receive grant funds by sponsoring traffic safety events at their school.
