Two Redwater High School Art Students Headed to State Competition
Congratulations to two Redwater High School art students who are going to be heading to a state competition.
Josh Newsome and Karile Williams competed at the Region 8 Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) in Paris, Texas they were two of 300 students competing and are advancing to state with 16 others around the state in 13 other school districts.
But that's not all because Redwater High School also achieved 19 Superior Ratings among 11 other competing students.
The Art Work Going to State
According to the press release, Newsome and Williams will be competing at the state competition in April in San Marcos, Texas. Newsome's artwork is a prismacolor self-portrait entitled “me”.
Williams' art piece is a color photograph depicting the joy and innocence of a student participating in the Redwater Elementary School “Color Run.”
A Big Congratulation to All These Redwater High School Students Too!
Students earning two individual Superior Ratings were:
Hannah Boddye, Maci Martin, Shania Maugham, Jaylee McClure, Lillianna McMurrian, Cambria McWilliams, Makenzee Minter and Shailyn Quillin.
Students earning one individual Superior Rating were:
Stephen Bolster, Gracie McCoy and Tiffiny Reed.
Of course a big congratulations to the Redwater High School art teacher Carrie Slay and the photography teacher Tabitha Houchens for guiding all these talented student to their achievements.
