Snow in Texarkana on January 2nd? It Could Happen

We've been checking the long-range weather forecasts trying to stay ahead of any predicted nasty weather, and this weekend, yes, the first weekend of 2022, would you believe there is snow in the forecast? It's true.

It depends on which forecasting center you look at because they do vary slightly, but Saturday night into Sunday morning we're looking at about a 35% chance of snow showers here in Texarkana.

Then Sunday night it's going to dip below freezing so get ready, it would appear that old-man winter, delayed just a bit, but he's on the way for sure.

This Week's Forecast:

Monday: Cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain showers, high about 77. Winds out of the SSW at 10 -15 mph.

Monday Night: Cloudy with a slight chance of rain, overnight low 68. Winds out of the South at 10 - 15 mph.

Tuesday: Overcast with a stray shower or thunderstorm possible, high near 77. Winds out of the SSW at 10 - 20 mph.

Tuesday Night: Increasing clouds overnight with a 50% chance of rain, low around 62. Winds out of the SSW at 5 - 10 mph.

Wednesday: A colder front will blow through bringing cloudy skies, an 80% chance of rain, and a high of about 70, the rain could also come with strong, gusty winds.

Wednesday Night: A few clouds around, no mention of rain, and winds calm down to barely there. Overnight low about 51.

Thursday: A mixture of sun and clouds on Thursday with the high around 71, winds out of the SW at 5 - 10 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy with an overnight low of about 56, winds will be light and variable.

New Years Eve

Friday: Cloudy with a 40% chance of scattered thundershowers, high near 73. Winds out of the SSW at 5 - 10 mph.

Friday Night: Cloudy with a 70% chance of thunderstorms, overnight low 67. Winds out of the SSW at 10 - 20 mph.

New Years Day

Saturday: Cloudy with a 60% chance of thundershowers, heavy rainfall is possible. Partly cloudy in the afternoon as a cold front blows in and winds shift to the WSW at 10 - 20 mph. The high for Saturday should be about 71 then dropping as that cold front arrives.

Saturday Night: Increasing clouds overnight with showers developing as well, about a 60% chance of rain and temperature dropping dramatically to a low of 33. Winds will be out of the NW at 10 - 15 mph.

Sunday: Cloudy with a 40% chance of snow showers, Partly cloudy in the afternoon with the high around 41. Winds out of the NW at 10 - 20 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear skies and cold, overnight low 27. Winds will be light and variable.
