Each year, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department participates in the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

According to a press release, the Summer Games Torch Run is an event that takes place across the state to honor the Special Olympics Arkansas athletes as they prepare to take part in our largest event, the Special Olympics Arkansas State Summer Games.

Law Enforcement officers from various agencies will run the Flame of Hope across the state of Arkansas until it reaches the arena at Harding University in Searcy, AR for Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, May 23, 2019. The LETR movement is essential to the success of Special Olympics Arkansas as they not only volunteer their time to help our athletes, they also organize fundraisers in their local communities for Special Olympics and raised over $500,000 this past year for the Special Olympics Arkansas program.

The Summer Games Torch Run Southwest Leg will begin Monday May 20, at 9AM, starting in the Arkansas Walmart parking lot, 133 Arkansas Blvd.  TAPD Officers will run over 18 miles before handing over the torch to the Hope Police Department.

The public is invited to come out and support this great cause. You can visit the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department online at txkusa.org/arkpolice.
