State Fair of Texas Announces Safety Measures for 2025 Event
The State Fair of Texas, one of the world's largest annual events, is announcing its comprehensive safety and security plan for 2025. The Fair, which attracts millions of visitors, works with the Dallas Police Department and top security experts to ensure a safe environment for all guests, staff, and vendors.

This year's plan includes both new and returning protocols designed to enhance safety and improve the fairgoing experience. The updated measures focus on entry and bag policies, on-site security, and a new command center to manage all operational communications.
Enhanced State Fair of Texas Entry & Security Protocols
- Clear Bag Policy: A new clear bag policy will be in effect to speed up entry and increase security. Permitted bags include clear bags and soft-shell coolers (9” x 10” x 12” or smaller) and small clutches (4.5” x 6.5” or smaller). Medical and parenting bags are exempt but will be subject to search.
- After 5 PM Minors Policy: Minors age 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone (21+) to enter the Fair after 5 PM.
- Weapons Detection System: The State Fair will continue to use the state-of-the-art CEIA OPENGATE weapons detection system at all pedestrian entry gates.

On-Site Operations and Oversight
- State Fair Command Center: A new 24/7 command center will serve as the central hub for all operational communications and incident management during the Fair.
- Security Team: A dedicated State Fair Safety Team, made up of retired police officers, will work alongside the Dallas Police Department to assist fairgoers and ensure a safe environment.
Behind-the-Scenes Safety
- Ride and Food Safety: All rides undergo rigorous independent inspections, including non-destructive testing. Similarly, every food booth must pass a Dallas Health Department inspection and will be visited four more times for inspection during the 24-day event.
The State Fair of Texas runs from Friday, September 26, through Sunday, October 19.
