Student Receives Governor’s Award for Musical Excellence

Brayden Porter an Ashdown High School Senior has been chosen to receive the Governor’s Award for Musical Excellence, an award that is given to high school seniors in Arkansas each year.

According to a press release, each school may nominate a single student based on musical ability, musical accomplishments, leadership, teamwork, and service to a band program. Each student selected for this honor receives a medal to be worn at graduation.

Brayden has been a part of the award-winning Ashdown Band Program for seven years. While at AHS, Anthony was also involved in the National Honor Society and Beta Club.

Brayden plans to join the Marine Corps Reserves following graduation.
