Let's just admit it's been a long hot summer with higher costs for everything food, gas, retail goods, and yes, even higher electric bills due to the excessive heat we've been experiencing this summer.

Well, help is now available for SWEPCO residential customers if you have received an unusual higher electric bill, Southwestern Electric Power Company has announced new measures to help residential customers facing high bills due to increased demand and rising fuel costs.

SWEPCO will allow its residential customers to have their late fees waived and take advantage of an extended payment plan that gives them up to 12 months to pay their bills in full. Deposits could be waived as well depending on the situation. This program is similar to the one SWEPCO offered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, in order to get late fees and deposits waived customers must call 1-888-216-3523 and speak with a SWEPCO representative who will work with you in setting up a revised extended payment plan. Remember when calling to make arrangements you can expect a long wait due to a high volume of calls.

Residential customers needing to make payments are encouraged to use their online service by logging in SWEPCO.com/Assist or can use their automated feature at 1-888-216-3523.
