Recently, detectives with the Texarkana Ark., Police Department were made aware of allegations of a sexual assault involving a female and a man who was a church youth director at the time. The victim was 16 years of age when the sexual assaults allegedly first began.

Texarkana Police Department detectives began an investigation into the allegations and learned that these sexual assaults transpired over a four to five-month period in 2013.
David Farren, a 41-year-old male who resides in Texarkana, was identified as the suspect in the case.

Sexual assault cases are investigated using the highest standard of care and consideration of all parties involved. Only when a majority of evidence is obtained is an arrest warrant approved by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and issued by a Circuit Judge. As a result of this investigation, David Farren was arrested on August 3, 2016 and charged with Sexual Assault in the 1st degree, a Class A felony in the State of Arkansas, as his position as a youth director placed him in a position of trust or authority over the victim.

Farren has since been released from jail on a $25,000 bail.

Anyone who has been the victim of any sexual crime is encouraged to contact Texarkana police at 903-798-3130.
