Here Are The Memorial Day Weekend Events In Texarkana

It's Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer. This weekend is usually filled with family and friends enjoying a long 3 day weekend.

There also might be burgers on the grill and fun in the pool or at the lake, but please take a few minutes on Monday to remember what Memorial Day is about. Memorial Day is when we remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country and our freedom. A few events are going on this weekend in Texarkana including Memorial Day services.

Texarkana Farmers Markets

Another great weekend to check out Texarkana farmer markets. Arkansas side Gateway Farmers Market at 602 East Jefferson Avenue is open Saturday morning from 7 AM to noon and the Texarkana Farmers' Market located downtown Texarkana by the post office is open from 8 AM to Noon

Memorial Day Weekend Ceremonies

Sunday, May 26 at 2 PM at Memorial Gardens on Hwy 67 East. The service is hosted by Memorial Gardens and the Texarkana Area Veterans Council.

Monday, May 27 at 11 AM The American Legion will have a service at the Miller County Courthouse.

Monday, May 27 at 11:45 AM Following that ceremony, you can walk or drive over to the Korea/Vietnam Memorial on Stateline near the post office. The Vietnam Veterans of America # 278, will host their service starting at 11:45 AM. This will be their 41st Memorial Day service at this site. You are advised to bring a lawn chair.

Monday, May 27 at 2 PM The last service of the day will start at 2 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery on Hwy 67 West hosted by Texarkana Funeral Home.
