The Texarkana Independent School District’s Family Resource Center has received a financial boost from the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana, thanks to proceeds from the club’s annual Pancake Day Fundraiser.

The grant will allow the center to provide critical support for students and families facing tough times, including help with food, clothing, housing, and other emergency needs.

“This grant gives us the flexibility to act quickly when families need it most,” said Rebekah Wagner, Stronger Connections Grant Project Director. “It helps keep students in school and families on stable ground.”

Located at 520 Texas Blvd., the TISD Family Resource Center offers a variety of services aimed at promoting academic success and family stability. These include:

  • Emergency food and clothing
  • Referrals for housing and utility assistance
  • Parenting support and peer groups
  • Hygiene and wellness items
  • Case management and employment resources

The new funding will be used to meet urgent needs that might otherwise go unaddressed, ensuring students can stay focused on learning even during personal or family crises.

TISD and the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana share a commitment to helping every child succeed, no matter their circumstances.

If you have ever wondered where the proceeds go when you chow down at Pancake Day every year, this is just one of the many local causes that money benfits. Thank you!
