First of all, when a school bus is picking up kids or dropping them off, by law we are required to stop. Most school buses today have the swing-out stop sign and flashing red lights to make it easier to spot them and to stop our vehicles. The great thing is these laws all apply to Texas and Arkansas.

What if You’re on The Other Side of The Road? Or a Big, Multiple-Lane Road?

It can get confusing on the big streets as to when to stop, but hopefully this will help you. If the road is not divided by a physical barrier or unpaved median, you still need to stop. Even if there are multiple lanes. Think Stateline or Summerhill Road!

The only exception is when a barrier or median is separating you from the bus and it's on the opposite side, like Wood Street.
