Texarkana Suspect in November Shooting Captured in Louisiana

On Friday, February 21, Texarkana Arkansas Police learned that Antoine Cartwright Jr. had been arrested in Bernice, Louisiana.

Cartwright has been wanted in connection to a shooting that took place back on Sunday, November 17. Officers were called at around 2:05 that afternoon about gunshots fired in the area of Vernal and Bramble Street.

Once officers arrived at the scene they found some spent cartridge cases on the street at the intersection of Vernal Street and Bramble Street.

While they were investigating the scene they were told that a 26-year-old named Tracy Davis had been admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and was in critical condition. Detectives found out through witnesses the suspects in this shooting had fired gunshots into a house on Vernal Street. Gunfire was exchanged and this is when detectives think that Davis was accidentally shot by one of his accomplices. Friends in the car with Davis drove to a hospital to get him help.

Later in the day detectives found out that 21-year-old Timothy Demery, was allegedly the driver of that vehicle. Demery was arrested for Terroristic Act, 66 counts, Tampering with Evidence, and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle.

Shooting Case Turns into Homicide Case

A few days later on November 20, the police reported that Tracy had succumbed to his injuries and now this was a homicide.

Then on November 25 Texarkana Arkansas Police put out a warrant for the arrest of  Antoine Cartwright Jr for alleged Capital Murder, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Tampering with Evidence and numerous counts of Terroristic Act all going back to the shooting on November 17. Cartwright was arrested in Bernice, Louisiana last Friday.

Now that Cartwright has been arrested, we hope he will be extradited to Texarkana Arkansas soon for questioning. We have no updates yet...
