With tax season here, many Texarkana folks will be preparing to file their 2026 returns. Filing your taxes doesn't have to be complicated or confusing; that's why the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties is offering seniors a FREE VITA/TCE program designed to help file your taxes if you qualify.
The Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties Free Tax Program
If you are age 60 or older, earned $67,000 or less, a person with disabilities, or limited in speaking English, you may qualify for this FREE program. Appointments are required. To schedule your appointment, please call 903-823-3470.
Tax Prep Schedule and Offices in the Texarkana Area
Literacy Council Office - Mon/ Wed 9 AM - 3 PM and Tuesday/Thurs 9 AM - 7:30 PM
Collins Senior Center - Every Tuesday 10 AM - 2 PM
Southwest Center - Feb. 20 and Feb. 27, and March 20 and March 27 - 9 AM -2 PM
Terry L. Rogers Recreation Center - Feb. 6, March 6, and April 10, 9 AM - 2 PM

VITA/TCE Program Requirements and Documentation Needed
- Legal Photo State ID or Driver's License
- Social Security Card or ITIN for spouses, dependents, if claiming
- All Personal Income Documents ( W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
- Bank Routing Number for Direct Deposit to Banking Firm
