Community Clean Up For Texarkana’s Beverly Neighborhood This Weekend
A community clean-up is planned for our friends in the Beverly neighborhood to help residents clear storm debris from their properties. These clean-ups will take place this Friday and Saturday.
Friday, July 19 and Saturday, 20 the volunteers will meet at 901 Lumpkin Street, Texarkana, TX, starting at 8 AM both days.
According to the City of Texarkana Texas there will be dumpsters available from 8 AM to 5 PM on Friday and from 8 AM to 12 PM on Saturday for volunteers and city crews to discard debris. After those times the Public Works Department says that residents can place storm debris in the right-of-way for city crews to pick up. This will save homeowners money by avoiding the need for private debris removal services.
Kristi Kendrick, President of the Believe in Beverly Neighborhood Association, is asking for the community to help them, stating in a press release,
Our community center has been open and serving Beverly in any way we can. We need manpower to remove debris from private residences so the city and utility companies can proceed.
The City of Texarkana, Texas can waive permit fees for storm-related damage in the Beverly neighborhood due to the state and federal disaster declarations. Permits and inspections are still required, but these waived fees include essential repairs like electrical work, plumbing, roofing, and HVAC systems.
For more information on permits, you can contact the Development Services Department at (903) 798-3912 or visit public.mygov.us/tx_texarkana to apply.
If you are interested in being a part of this community clean-up, please call Kristi Kendrick at (903) 733-1179.
