Over the years he has been around the best pit masters in East Texas thus solidifying him as a barbecue authority. Palmer's dedication to the craft was evident when he opened his first Big Jake's location at the young age of 21. There are now five locations across the area.

Smokey Joe's Barbeque opened its doors in 2005. They pride themselves on being "at the forefront of barbeque innovation." They have an interesting menu with unheard of items like barbeque fries and nachos or sweet potato fries and smoked hamburgers.

This joint was written into our poll by several people. Big Daddy's Cook Shack is a catering service founded in 2013. They pride themselves in working any kind of event from weddings and family reunions to church events and fund raisers. Although a caterer, I wouldn't be surprised if they opened up a brick and mortar.
