Summer is here and temperatures are on the rise. It won't take long it all for the body to over heat and the worst case scenario heat stroke.  Here are three tips to stay safe in the heat from CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.

STAY COOL: Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing; wear sunscreen; avoid hot meals; and check to be sure everyone is out of the care before leaving! Do not overlook any children who have fallen asleep

STAY HYDRATED: drink more fluids, regardless of how active you are. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink. A sports drink can replace the salt and minerals you lose when you sweat.

STAY INFORMED: Check your local news or Weather app for extreme heat alerts and safety tips. Learn the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses; Monitor those at high risk!

As always, their emergency center is always ready if you think someone is experiencing a heat stroke.
