Tony Romo Expected to be Released Today + Take Job with CBS
It looks like Tony Romo will be taking a leap from the NFL to the CBS lily pad.
Earlier today, we learned that Tony Romo's next move will not be to another NFL team, despite interest from the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. Instead, he will be leaving the game and entering into the field of broadcast because it is in the best interest of his health and family. With the fate of the Cowboys riding confidently on the shoulders of Dak Prescott, the move makes sense.
So where to now?
According to a few sources, Romo will most likely be headed to CBS. He originally had interest from Fox Sports, but also garnered much of the same from NBC and CBS. As it sits right now, according to an NFL insider, CBS plans to make a formal announcement of Romo's position with the company later today.
The word now is that Romo will replace Phil Simms as a CBS analyst on their NFL coverage show. Nothing has been confirmed at this time. Only time will tell what exactly will happen, but at least Romo will be able to retire as a Cowboy, the team he gave 14 years to. In that time he also became Dallas' all-time leader in pass yards, pass touchdowns, and pass rating. He was also a four-time Pro Bowl selection. Not too shabby for a guy who went undrafted in 2003.
