A tragic three vehicle accident involving a school bus Thursday night north of Mount Pleasant, Texas has left 2 adults dead and a number of students injured.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred on Highway 271 near Talco, North of Mount Pleasant around 10:30PM last night.

The DPS says for unknown reasons a northbound Eighteen Wheeler crossed into southbound lane and struck a school bus and a private vehicle. The driver of the big rig and the vehicle both died in the accident.

Numerous injuries were reported on the school bus, most of them non life threatening according to the DPS, but at least four injuries deemed serious. Victims were taken to various hospitals across the area.

The driver of the private vehicle was a track coach with the Mount Pleasant Independent School District.
