TxDOT Launches Pedestrian Safety Campaign as Days Get Shorter
With daylight hours decreasing, the risk for pedestrians increases. That’s why the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is rolling out an important pedestrian safety campaign across the state this month, urging Texans to "Be Safe. Drive Smart."
Why Pedestrian Safety is Critical Now
TxDOT is sharing compelling data and clear safety tips for both drivers and pedestrians. The goal is pretty simple: prevent crashes, especially during the fall and winter months when pedestrian fatalities and serious injuries tend to peak.

As part of the campaign, TxDOT will deploy street teams of walking billboards to Texarkana and other high-traffic areas statewide. The core message is for everyone: Stay alert, follow traffic laws, and watch out for one another.

- Where: Main Street between W4th and Front Street in Texarkana

The Bigger Picture: Drive Like a Texan
The "Be Safe. Drive Smart." campaign is part of TxDOT’s broader "Drive like a Texan: Kind. Courteous. Safe." initiative. This program focuses on embracing the responsibility of being a Texan on the road, encouraging thoughtful choices to keep everyone safe.
