As technology continues to reshape the workforce, careers in broadband and telecommunications are becoming some of the most sought-after jobs out there. The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) is helping students prepare for those careers through its Fiber Optic Technician program, with the next round of classes beginning Monday, August 24.

A Career Field on the Rise in Arkansas & Texas

Offered in partnership with the Arkansas Fiber Academy, this is an eight-week program that gives students a fast track into the growing fiber broadband industry. As communities, businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities rely more and more on high-speed internet connections, the demand for trained fiber-optic technicians continues to rise.

Hands-On Training for Real-World Jobs at UAHT

Students will receive both classroom instruction and hands-on field experience, learning the skills employers are looking for to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber broadband systems for homes and businesses. Once the program is completed, graduates will be eligible to earn the Fiber Broadband Association OpTIC Path three-year certification.
