Low-Cost Career Trades Training at UAHT in Texarkana
On National Skilled Trades Day, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) is reminding students and families that skilled trades are not just backup plans, they are smart, high-demand career paths.
Electricians, HVAC techs, mechanics, and welders keep our world running, yet there’s a growing shortage of workers in these fields. UAHT is helping to fill that gap by offering hands-on training programs designed to get students job-ready in a year or less.
With options like welding, HVAC, diesel tech, and electromechanical technology, students can gain real-world skills without taking on massive debt. Many programs qualify for the Arkansas Future Grant or can be taken for free by high school students through UAHT’s Secondary Career Center.
UAHT Skilled Trades Benefits:
- Affordable: Low or no cost for eligible students
- Fast: Most programs take one year or less
- Practical: Industry-recognized certifications and hands-on experience
- Career-Ready: Strong demand and good wages in every field
UAHT also emphasizes soft skills like teamwork and communication, key strengths in any trade.
Whether it’s building homes, fixing engines, or powering the future with solar tech, skilled trades offer stability, growth, and purpose. UAHT makes it easier than ever to get started.
