
U of A Hope-Texarkana Named One of America’s Best Trade Schools by USA TODAY
The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana has something big to celebrate! It has earned national recognition after being named one of USA TODAY's 2026 America's Best Trade Schools.
UAHT was one of only six schools in Arkansas to make the list of the nation's top 250 trade schools, highlighting the university's commitment to affordable, hands-on education that prepares students for careers in high-demand fields.
UAHT Chancellor Dr. Ricky Tompkins said in a press release,
This national recognition reflects the outstanding work of our faculty, staff, students and industry partners. At UAHT, we are committed to helping students develop practical, career-ready skills while providing employers with the highly trained workforce they need. Being named one of America's best trade schools confirms that our programs are making a meaningful difference for our students, our communities and the regional economy.
Preparing Students for In-Demand Careers
UAHT offers a variety of career and technical education programs, including welding, diesel technology, electromechanical technology, industrial maintenance, HVAC, construction technology, and more. Many of the programs can be completed in a year or less, giving students a fast and affordable path into the workforce.

The university also has Secondary Career and Technical Education Centers in Hope and Texarkana, allowing participating high school juniors and seniors to receive hands-on training, earn college credit, and even complete some certificates at no cost.

Tompkins said the honor belongs to everyone who helps make UAHT successful.
This honor belongs to everyone who supports our students, from our instructors and advisors to the businesses and community organizations that help shape our programs. We will continue expanding opportunities that allow people to build better futures for themselves and their families.

This is an amazing accomplishment for UAHT to receive this kind of national recognition and it's something our region can be proud of. It's another reminder that students don't have to travel far to receive a quality education and training that leads to rewarding careers.
