Motorists who normally travel US 67 Eastbound (West 7th Street) between Lake Drive and Texas Boulevard will need to find an alternate route beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, through Wednesday, June 24.

According to a press release, Kansas City Southern Railroad will be closing the highway to through-traffic on these dates to make repairs to the railroad trestle located near Lelia Street.

Traffic will officially be detoured on a signed route on State Highway 93 (Summerhill Road) and US 82 (New Boston Road and Texas Boulevard). Portable message boards will be placed near the railroad crossing beforehand to warn motorists of the scheduled road closure.  The construction schedule and road closure can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen problems.

Anyone having any questions about the road closure, detour routes or construction work can call the Texas Department of Transportation Texarkana maintenance section at 903-838-8574 for more information.
