This list of the top burgers in each state just became a tasty road map for my upcoming tour of the United States!

If you know me you know I can never turn down a burger. It's the first thing I look for on a menu and is pretty much something I will order for any meal, snack or just-for-the-heck-of-it feeding. In fact, for Fourth of July I went to three different parties where burgers were served in a matter of just five days.

I was in heaven.

So when I found this list of the top burgers in each state, you know I was salivating and planning a trip across the country. I mean, what could be better than traveling and eating burgers? NOTHING. So where are we headed for the best burgers in the Ark-La-Tex?

Let's look at Arkansas first.

According to Mental Floss, Midtown Billiards in Little Rock serves up the best burger. It's a dive bar known for the Gut-Bomb. This burger is gigantic and weighs in at a half-pound. Top it off with bacon, cheddar cheese, eggs and SPAM. Yep... spam. Midtown Billiards will be reopening this summer after sustaining fire damage.

How about for Louisiana?

We're headed to Abita Springs for the best burger in Louisiana. Abita Brew Pub serves up a 10-ounce patty with pepper jack cheese, fried onion rings, and Abita wing sauce which is a signature item on their menu. Be sure to look around you while you are there as the restaurant is housed in the first brewery in Abita.

And finally we arrive in Texas...

The best burger in the Lone Star State is at Alamo Springs Cafe in Fredericksburg. It's a small cafe that serves up the coveted green chile cheeseburger. Green chiles can be found in the patty, but what really sets this burger apart is the jalapeno-cheese bun.

Did they get it right?
