Last week was cold, really cold. It even got super cold on the Texas coastline. With temperatures that cold, organizations were out trying to save turtles caught in the cold waters off the Texas coast.

These turtles were 'cold-stunned' and were unable to swim in the cold temperatures. Instead, they became lethargic, couldn't swim and floated to the top of the water's surface.

Many of those turtles would have come to a bad end and drowned because once they float to the top, they are so cold they can't even raise their heads above the water to breathe. There is also the chance they could be hit by boats or become stranded on the coastline.

Over 900 Sea Turtles Saved From The Cold Waters

But over 900 sea turtles were saved with the help of Sea Turtles Inc based in South Padre Island, the Coastal Fisheries, Texas Parks & Wildlife and other organizations and volunteers.

According to the Coastal Fisheries - Texas Park & Wildlife Facebook page, they helped with around 300 turtles rehabilitated and then released them back into the coastal waters.

Then the Amazing Release Back into The Waters!

What an amazing story! Thanks to Sea Turtle Inc, Coastal Fisheries the Texas Parks and Wildlife and all the volunteers for lending a helping hand to all these turtles.
