When Should County Commissioner Meetings Be Held

As  a  candidate for Bowie County Judge, Sterling Lacy said he would like to move at least some of the County Commissioner Court meetings to the evening hours to allow more people a change to attend the meetings.

He has since tried on several occasions to get the County Commissioners t0 go along with his motions to do so, but to no avail. Citing increased expenses and  increased work days for some county employees they have refused to do so.

The question really is, would moving the meetings to night actually increase the number of citizens who actually attend such meetings. It is hard to say, but being someone who has attended my fair share of City Government and school board meetings, the public's attendance whether during the day or at night is usually dismal.

Of course there is always exceptions when a hugely controversial measure comes up , but usually if its that newsworthy people who really want to get there will do so whether its day or night.

One thing that is refreshing is that a politician actually at least attempted to do what he campaigned on!!!!!
