It's not a bad idea to clean the thing that goes everywhere with you.

If germs were visible, I'm pretty sure we would all gag at the number of germs on our phone. Think about it. This is the number one thing you carry with your wherever you go. It's the biggest distraction of your day. It's also the most convenient way to listen to your favorite radio station via the RadioPup app.

And it's probably filthy.

Not because you're gross or lack hygiene, but because we don't typically think to clean it and we really don't know how. However, thanks to Mashable.com, we now have some simple household items that we can use to clean it.

Start by turning off your phone.

Then you can use a microfiber cloth to clean off smudges. It works for glasses, so why not use it for your phone? You can even dampen one of the corners to help with some stuck on stuff. The cloth won't scratch your phone either like paper towels, which can also leave lint on your phone.

Good old cotton swabs can help you get into the hard-to-reach cracks and crevices, like maybe your entire screen is cracked and collecting dust? Again, get it slightly damp to get the hard to clean stuff off.

When it comes to liquid, you obviously don't want to use too much. Never spray your phone directly, but dampening a cloth or Q-tip is always an option. Rubbing alcohol will also help you clean and disinfect your phone. A solution of water and vinegar, equal parts, is also a great option to clean.

I would recommend doing this once a week. After all, some people carry their phone everywhere . . .  even in the bathroom.
