15th Annual Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex Competition This Weekend

Get ready Texarkana because salsa is coming to Texarkana.  The Texarkana Farmers Market presents the Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex Contest on Saturday, August 3, in historic downtown Texarkana.

2024 Ark-La-Tex Salsa Contest

This will mark the 15th year that the Salsa Contest will be taking place with various contestants entering the contest to see who has the "Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex."

All salsa will be voted on as Hot, Mild, Medium, or Specialty Salsa.  I'm going to be looking for originality, texture, and creativity when making my choice for the best salsa. I'm pretty sure whoever wins this competition will feel like doing a salsa dance to help celebrate being crowned the Salsa King.

Free Salsa Tasting - 9-12 noon

Free salsa tasting starts at 9 AM until noon and visitors can vote on their favorites and even purchase and take home their favorite salsa.

In addition, various vendors will sell everything from vegetables, fruits, and meats, all locally home-grown and produced.  You'll also find homemade soaps, artisan crafts, jams, herbs, and baked goods from local artisans.

Food trucks will also be available at the Texarkana Farmers Market at 500 N. State Line Avenue this Saturday, August 3, in front of the Post Office downtown. Note: The salsa contest closes out the 2024 Texarkana Farmers Market season.
