We've all seen the news and it seems crime is everywhere, but sadly it seems it's on the rise in Arkansas at least enough for two towns to land on the 2023 Most Dangerous Cities in The US list.
Arkansas has so much to offer so I really hate to see this. It's a beautiful state and perfect for all types of activities, especially with its beautiful state parks, lakes, trails, festivals, restaurants, history and more.
The Study Looked at Two Categories of Crime
The study looked at the data on crime in cities all across the US. neighborhoodscout.com and travelinglifestyle.net looked at crime rates per 1,000 people. They then broke the crimes into two categories: Violent and Property.
15 cities were listed in the country and Arkansas has two cities in the top 15.
Making the list at Number 9
Little Rock
According to travelinglifestyle.net, There are approximately 9 crimes committed every day. Most of them are burglaries and car theft. With a population of over 200,000 the number of crimes in the past year totaled 14,808. Broken down to Violent Crimes - 4,099 and Property Crimes 10,709.
The chances of you being a victim of a violent crime in Little Rock is 1 in 49 and a victim of a property crime is 1 in 19.
Making the List at Number 8
Pine Bluff
Pine Bluff's population is just over 40,000 and it's a pretty town but the crime is high according to the data. A total of 3,173 crimes occurred with 825 violent crimes and 2,348 property crimes.
The chances of being a victim of a property crime in this town are 1 in 49, but your chance of being a victim of a violent crime is 1 in 17.
But Arkansas Is Still a Pretty Safe State
Arkansas is still a relatively safe state when you look at the stats. In Arkansas, we have a 1 in 141 chance of being a victim of a violent crime, but it's a 1 in 38 chance of being a victim of a property crime. Ouch, that last number isn't good.
