2019 ‘Run the Line’ Half Marathon Is Hoping For A Record Year!
In its twelfth year, the Texarkana, USA Run the Line Half Marathon is expecting a record number of racers on Sunday, February 17, 2019. The half marathon will begin at 7:30 am at Broad and Main Street in front of the Bi-State Justice Building in downtown Texarkana, TX and finishes at 3rd and Wood Street in Texarkana, AR. Runners can still register online at txkruntheline.org until race day to run 13.1 miles or a 2 or 4-person relay. Volunteers are also needed along the race route and can contact info@txkruntheline.org to volunteer.
According to the Press Release, race registrations are currently at 550, up from 478 in 2018. Run the Line has received registrations from 13 states, including a first-ever registration from Connecticut. The race is a unique event because it is one of the few races run in two states. Athletes often seek out the race with the goal of running a race in every state. Additionally, the race is partly run on paved walking trails, which not only makes the race distinctive but makes it fit the mission of the organizing committee.
Co-Race Directors and Partnership for the Pathway Board Members Melinda Vammen and Julie-Ray Harrison said, “Run the Line is easily our biggest fundraiser for walking and bicycling trails around Texarkana. Each year, we’re able to make our city more beautiful because so many locals and new friends from all over the nation come to run in our city.” Vammen adds, “We’re so proud of our local runners and appreciative of the Texarkana community members that support this event. I think out of town athletes talk highly about us because so many organizations and both cities come together to support a unique fundraiser for local walking trails.”
Platinum Sponsors for the race include: The City of Texarkana, AR; The City of Texarkana, TX; CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System; Texarkana, TX Parks and Recreation; Texarkana, Arkansas Parks Department; Racquet and Jog; Walmart; and Farmers Bank & Trust.
