A&M-Texarkana Adding Volleyball & Cross Country in Fall of 2022
Texas A&M University-Texarkana is expanding its athletic program for next year. The expansion will include women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country and it will all begin next year in the fall of 2022.
The Texas A&M Texarkana athletic department already has men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball. With the new additions will make the university have a total of 11 intercollegiate programs. The existing teams compete in the NAIA’s Red River Athletic Conference.
Michael Galvan, aid Athletic Director said in a press release,
“We are thrilled to be adding two more programs and we will adhere to the same standards of excellence that we have with our existing programs.”
Both of the new sports will start competing next fall. The volleyball team will make the Patterson Student Center its home and the cross country teams will use all the trails near the campus and of course all around Texarkana.
A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Emily Cutre stated:
“These three teams will bring approximately 45 additional students to our campus and community. Our athletes come here from throughout the United States and around the world."'
