Annual Bramlett Beans & Cornbread Luncheon December 5
How did it begin?
Where does the money raised go?
Get ready for the 26th Annual Bramlett Beans & Cornbread Community Fundraiser. This tasty event will take place at the Texarkana Convention Center on Thursday, December 5, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
How Much is the Annual Beans and Cornbread Event?
This is a great community event and everyone is welcome to enjoy a warm bowl of beans and cornbread while supporting a good cause. For only $5 or a donation of six non-perishable food items, you can enjoy a delicious meal and help make a difference.
How Did The Annual Bramlett Beans and Cornbread Lunch Begin?
This cherished event began in 1991, thanks to Paula Jeans, who started it to honor her late father by giving back to the community. That first year, the effort helped provide food for five baskets. In 1998, the Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department expanded the event into a fundraiser luncheon.
With the support of former Texarkana, Texas Mayor James Bramlett, the event grew into the beloved community tradition that it is today. 32 years later, it continues to grow and support even more families.
Where Does The Money Raised Go?
The money raised from the luncheon will go directly to the Christmas Basket program. This program brings together volunteers to gather, sort, and deliver food to families in Texarkana. City employees and Texarkana Water Utilities staff make sure this program runs smoothly.
Donations of non-perishable foods, like canned soups, fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, crackers, and peanut butter, are greatly needed. As part of the tradition, handmade pottery from Texas High School art students will be available to purchase, with all proceeds going to the program.
