With a winter storm approaching Arkansas on Tuesday, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency. The latest weather projections indicate most of Central and Northern Arkansas will be affected the most with snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

Arkansas State of Emergency Declared Over Winter Storm

Driving conditions could become treacherous under these conditions and the amount of precipitation including frigid bitter cold temperatures dipping into the teens and single digits in northern sections. According to meteorologists from KARK, factor in the wind chill it likely will feel like below-zero temperatures in some areas of Arkansas by early Thursday morning. Snowfall amounts could range from three inches in Central Arkansas to up to 10 inches in North Arkansas.

Nevertheless, it's best to be prepared, and remember the three P's, People, Pets, and Pipes. In the event of a power outage, residents should have extra blankets, flashlight batteries, candles, and food readily available.

Arkansas Governor Sander's state of emergency will remain in effect until Feb. 24 or until extended or canceled.
