Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration’s Regulatory Agents seized 6,000 illegal hemp-derived THC products after 2,800 visits to retail shops statewide in a crackdown on banned substances between June 25 and July 14. 2025.

Felony Arrests and Misdemeanor Citations Issued in Arkansas Crackdown

According to THV11, two felony arrests were made, and multiple misdemeanor citations were issued in the crackdown. Most regulated businesses have complied with the new laws, but some retailers have continued to sell the products illegally, thereby endangering the community by keeping them on the shelves.

According to the Regulatory Enforcement Division, many of the products are synthetically produced in foreign laboratories and packaged to resemble candy, snacks, or beverages, which can pose a risk to children. Enforcement agents notified managers and owners about the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision to uphold Arkansas’s ban on intoxicating substances derived from industrial hemp. They also distributed a letter outlining the ban and detailing potential penalties for non-compliance. Selling hemp-derived THC products, possession of it remains illegal.
