Bowie County Handles Assaults, Fires, and Theft Cases Last Week

Apparently, we went back up to "above normal" numbers last week. I guess a few days of sub-freezing temperatures made folks restless, so naturally, they just couldn't wait to get out there and do something stupid to get arrested.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office reports a total of 101 arrests in the county last week. Deputies responded to a wide range of calls, including multiple warrant services, with more than 30 individuals arrested on charges ranging from probation and parole violations to theft, drug-related offenses, traffic warrants, and holds for other agencies. BCSO deputies investigated five assault cases, including four family violence-related incidents and two assaults on public servants. There were three reported theft cases, including one involving approximately $1,700 in U.S. currency, as well as four criminal mischief incidents causing varying levels of property damage.

Deputies also handled three fire-related calls, including two residential fires and one vehicle fire. Animal-related incidents accounted for five calls, including dog bites and reports of dogs that were dangerous to humans or other animals. Additional activity included two runaway juvenile reports, with at least one juvenile safely located and returned home, along with reports of burglary of a vehicle, forgery, suspicious circumstances, criminal trespass, civil matters, welfare concerns, and prohibited items discovered in correctional facilities. All individuals listed were arrested or charged as alleged, and investigations remain ongoing where applicable.
