Career Opportunies Open With UAHT Truck Driver Training Academy
After a year of Covid, there are a lot of people that are wanting to change things up careerwise and the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana can help along with three other community colleges in Arkansas (UA Cossatot, UA Rich Mountain, and ASU Three Rivers). They have all decided to partner up together to create the Arkansas Trucking Academy (ArkTA) Consortium.
Have you been thinking about a new career?
If you've been thinking about becoming a truck driver this is a great opportunity and a great place to start. The ArkTA program received a $720,000 grant to start up the operations. This program will train students to obtain a commercial driving license. The memorandum of understanding will cover two years from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2023.
The Governor of Arkansas Gives it a Thumbs Up
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson even made a statement in a press release saying,
This is another pace-setting workforce solution that has grown out of conversations between leaders in industry and education. Arkansas’s businesses had a problem, our educators stepped in to fill it, and we are able to support it with an Arkansas Regional Workforce grant.
This project is bringing the private sector and the government together to bring quality training to people in our area and across the state of Arkansas.
When Will Classes Start and How Much?
The program will cost is $1,300. Classes with the fall 2021 semester. If you'd like more information contact Akili Moses Israel at akili.mosesisrael@uaht.edu or (870) 722-8102.
