Songwriters on the Edge of Texas Concert and Golf Tournament April 12-13
The CASA Songwriters on the Edge of Texas Concert and Golf Tournament is coming up this weekend April 12-13 at Northridge Country Club. The concert kicks off the event on Sunday at 6 p.m. with live entertainment from the winner of the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards New "Artist of the Year," Jack Ingram. This singer/songwriter, who hails from the Lone Star State, had been making music long before he was recognized on a national level. He played in honky tonks, bars and festivals around Texas wherever he could perform to get his music heard. Finally, Ingram made it to Nashville, Tenn., where he landed his first record deal.
After several more years of frustration and trying to find his niche in Nashville, Ingram signed on to a major label and released his first album and hit single "Wherever You Are," which turned out to be his first number one single of his career. He followed that up with a new album in 2008 "This Is It" and "Big Dreams & High Hopes," which produced two top twenty singles "That's a Man" and "Barefoot & Crazy."
Don't miss Jack Ingram with special guest Sunny Sweeney at the CASA Songwriters Edge of Texas Concert on Sunday, April 12. Sweeney, who also has Texas roots, played this event a few years ago and is looking forward to returning for this special fundraiser.
Sweeney’s heart-wrenching “My Bed” — which features fellow country artist Will Hoge — is an emotional song that chronicles the breakdown of a marriage. The hauntingly beautiful track from Sweeney’s 2014 album Provoked now has an equally emotional music video.
Dinner at the event will be provided by Outback Steakhouse. Tickets are $75 with all proceeds to benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children.
See a performance from Jack Ingram for the Texas Music Scene.
