Chely Wright is Getting Married… To a Woman…. In August.

CHELY WRIGHT has met the woman she wants to spend the rest of her life with.  Her name is Lauren Blitzer and she's a gay civil rights activist and co-author of the book "Same Sex in the City:  (So Your Prince Charming Is Really a Cinderella)".

Chely and Lauren are getting MARRIED on August 20th in Connecticut.  Perhaps choosing that location because it's one of only five states where same-sex marriage is legal.

Here's a statement from Chely's rep, quote, "They met through their youth advocacy work and say that their passion for Scrabble holds them together."  (Here are some photos of Chely and her fiancée Lauren Blitzer.)

Although Chely had her rep do the talking... Blitzer let the entire world know her feelings via Twitter.  On Tuesday she Tweeted to Chely, quote, "You are the most beautiful women I have ever met."  (Yes, she spelled woman wrong.  Ironic?)

This comes less than a year after Chely officially came out.  And because it's my job, I poked around some lesbian chat rooms.  Y'know, just to see what they're saying about this.  Turns out there were rumors of them dating way back in September.

I also saw a lot of sniping about their age difference.  Chely is 40 and Lauren is around 30.  She was 24 back in 2005 when the "New York Times" wrote a story about her book.

(Yes, lesbians are just as mean and catty as straight women.  At least the ones in chat rooms are.  Some things never change.)
