Watch History Come to Life at the Battle of Prairie D’Ane Civil War Weekend in Arkansas

If you love history, then get ready to watch it come to life this fall as the Nevada County Depot Museum will host a Civil War Weekend: The Battle of Prairie D’Ane on Saturday, November 7, at the historic Prairie D’Ane Battlefield near Prescott.

The event begins at 11 AM. at 2243 Highway 19 North and will feature a reenactment of the Battle of Prairie D’Ane, one of Arkansas's most significant Civil War battles. Trained living-history actors will recreate scenes from the 1864 conflict, giving visitors a chance to experience an important chapter of Arkansas history firsthand.

Explore Military Encampments and Living History in Arkansas

Following the battle reenactment, you will be able to tour recreated Federal and Confederate encampments and meet some of the reenactors portraying soldiers from both sides of the conflict.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about daily military life during the Civil War through demonstrations of period equipment, camp routines, and historical trades. Food vendors and tradesmen will also be on site throughout the day.

Honoring Arkansas History

Admission is $10 per vehicle, which includes on-site parking.

Civil War Weekend is presented through a partnership between the Nevada County Depot Museum and Historic Washington State Park. The event continues both organizations' commitment to preserving Arkansas history while helping commemorate America's 250th anniversary by remembering the events and sacrifices that helped shape the nation.
