Randy Sams' Outreach Shelter helps take care of a lot of people who need extra help. And the shelter also needs a little help from you right now -- as soon as possible. They take donations around the clock. With colder temperatures dipping into the 30s and 40s in the evenings, the shelter has seen about 100 people at its doors, said Executive Director Jennifer Laurent.

And with those additional people, come additional needs.

“We need bleach, industrial garbage bags, coffee, and we need (bath) towels. Sleeping bags wouldn’t hurt either. And our case manager says that people are always asking for hand warmers," she said.

Here's what the shelter needs:

  • Coffee
  • Styrofoam cups
  • Warm hats
  • Scarves
  • Gloves of all sizes
  • Sleeping bags
  • Hand warmers
  • Bleach
  • Industrial Garbage Bags
  • Bath Towels

Any and all items may be dropped off at the shelter at 402 Oak Street in Texarkana, Texas 75501 around the clock. Please pledge to stop by the Randy Sams Outreach shelter and bring them the items on the list mentioned above – or whatever you can bring. No one in the Texarkana community should have be outside with temperatures promising to be in the 30s to 40s this week. Please help the shelter help those in need.
