Texarkana Native: The Dancing Umpire is Coming to Rhinos Game!
Guess who's coming to Texarkana for a special appearance at the Texarkana Rhino's baseball game?
Batter Up! The Dancing Umpire Returns to Texarkana
The Dancing Umpire, Vincent Chapman, from the fun-loving, world-famous Savannah Bananas exhibition baseball team. This will be like a homecoming for Chapman, as he is a native of Texarkana who umpired his first game many years ago. During an interview with The Money Channel on YouTube, he recalls growing up playing baseball as a kid, then having the opportunity to umpire his first game while he was a sophomore in high school.
He recalls that during a game in Texarkana, Arkansas, an irate parent started yelling and screaming at him. It was at that point he decided to do something to help lighten the mood of the game, so when he was at a tournament, he began to dance between innings. The crowd went wild and loved it. Chapman always loved dancing, so why not combine his love of baseball with dancing for fun? Little did he know this would lead to bigger things down the road, a gig with the popular Savannah Bananas baseball team.
Here's the complete interview.
