Chief Petty Officer Daryl Walker began his story there. Walker learned the skills and values that would be foundational to success in the Navy.

“I learned from my dad the importance of having a hard work ethic,” Walker said. "Simply put, a hard work ethic will get you where you need to be, and if you work hard, recognition will come."

Walker eventually moved from Texarkana and graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, in 2002.  He earned a Master's degree in Business Administration in 2021 from Liberty University.
