Diamond Rio Headlines 2019 Watermelon Festival Aug. 10

One of my favorite country bands from the mid 90s Diamond Rio will be performing at the annual Hope Watermelon Festival on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Fair Park.

When I was working at a radio station in Hot Springs, Arkansas during the 90s, I remember these guys pulling up in their tour bus and visiting me for an on-air interview. During that time "Meet In The Middle," was their very first hit and they were traveling across the country promoting their hit and the band. I have to admit, I've met a lot of country stars throughout my career and the guys from Diamond Rio were some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Who would have thought that those guys would of went on to chart 32 more singles between then and 2006 including four number one singles, "How Your Love Makes Me Feel," "One More Day," "Beautiful Day," " and "I Believe."

In addition, Diamond Rio went on win numerous awards throughout their career including CMA, ACM and Grammy Awards. In the mid 90s through the early 2000s they were dominating the country music charts with their distinctive sound and six-part harmonies.
