There is a voluntary recall on dog food that is manufactured by TFP Nutrition of Nacogdoches, Texas. They announced the recall on Saturday, October 21. 

 

The recall is for Retriever All Life Stages Mini Chunk Chicken Recipe Dry Dog Food due to potential Salmonella contamination.

This can not only affect the dogs that are eating it but also the pet owners that are handling it especially if their hands have not been properly washed after coming into contact with the product and any surfaces that it might have touched.

According to the recall listed with the FDA,

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Dogs might be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets might have a decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. They can also be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has eaten this recalled product and has these symptoms, you should call your veterinarian immediately.

The recalled dog food was manufactured on October 4, 2023 and October 5, 2023 at the Nacogdoches, Texas facility. The possibly affected dog food was distributed in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah and contains “3277 TFP” or “3278 TFP” located on the second line of the date code. This product is sold at Tractor Supply.

The good news is there have been no dog or human illnesses reported as of the recall date of October, 21. But it's best to be safe. All recalled product has been removed from store shelves and no other Tractor Supply Company products are affected by the voluntary recall.

This voluntary recall is being issued due to a single sample of Retriever All Life Stages Mini Chunk Chicken Recipe Dry Dog Food that tested positive for Salmonella in a random sample test conducted by the Office of the Texas State Chemist.
