Embrace Christmas Past by Candlelight at Arkansas State Park

It's about that time of the year for the 38th annual Christmas and Candlelight Tour in historic Washington State Park in Arkansas.

This charming old-time village reminds me of those porcelain villages you use to decorate your mantle during Christmas time. If you want to capture the feel of an old-fashioned Christmas gather the family together for a walk through the luminaries while you enjoy the sounds of holiday music.

Historic buildings and homes in Washington State Park will be festively decorated with period decorations and thousands of luminaries will line the streets. Take a ride on a horse-drawn surrey through the village or go on a tour of the homes.

Make sure you visit Williams' Tavern Restaurant for some delicious delights and tasty food in a festive holiday setting from 11 am - 8 pm.

Historic Washington State Park will host its 38th Annual Christmas and Candlelight event on Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14. Luminary lighting and music programs will begin at 5 p.m. Tour venues will open at 1 p.m.

• Parking $5 (cash only)

Historic Washington State Park is a restoration village interpreting the small Arkansas town in the 19th century with 15 historic sites, museums, the 1874 Hempstead County Courthouse, an old post office, and the B.W. Edwards Weapons Museum and Blacksmith Shop.
