A friend of mine on Facebook tipped me off about an Arkansas High alumni who has just written a book and will be in Texarkana soon for a book signing.

Marcia Kemp Sterling, who graduated with the 1961 class is a retired attorney and the author of the book, "One Summer in Arkansas." The book is available both on Amazon and in bookstores, in paperback and ebook. Sterling will be in Texarkana on April 15 to do a reading/book signing at Books-A-Million by the mall as well as something at the Texarkana Public Library on April 17.

Ms. Sterling grew up in Texarkana, Ark. and lives in Palo Alto, Calif. with her husband Nathaniel Sterling, former executive director of the California Law Revision Commission. She has two children, five stepchildren, and eight grandchildren.

Sterling says: "Now that I'm no longer earning my living in the law, I have time to notice what's going on around me and, I'll tell you, it isn't necessarily pretty. But, thank goodness, I also have time to write, and that is a joy and a privilege."

If you know Marcia or if you're a former AHS alumni you're encouraged to attend this book signing event.
